Customizer Sillof has created a complete series of Steampunk modified Star Wars action figures. What is Steampunk you say? According to wikipedia, Steampunk is a subgenre of fantasy and speculative fiction which denotes works set in an era or world where steam power is still widely used—usually the 19th century. The stories are often set in Victorian era England—but with prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy, such as fictional technological inventions like those found in the works of H. G. In a somewhat “What were they thinking?” kind of move, game show Deal or no Deal is coming soon to a galaxy far, far away…

Two contestants will need the Force with them in a special, Star Wars-themed, winner-take-all edition of Deal or No Deal airing April 28. Deal will be transformed into a mecca of Star Wars characters and themes, complete with models dressed as Imperial stormtroopers and Princess Leia.

Contestant Elyse McCrillis will also get some help from none other than Carrie Fisher — the original Princess Leia — who will make a special cameo. Other faves from the franchise — Chewbacca and R2D2 — will also be on hand for some surprise arrivals. Of course, no Star Wars scene would be complete without Darth Vader: The bad guy steps in as the show’s villainous banker.

The eleventh OSWCC Summer Social is coming up in a few short months. For those of you who are making your summer travel plans, we wanted to share the date. The Social will be held on the 12th of July at the Madisonville Recreation Center in Cincinnati. More information and details will be coming soon. The Social’s going to be a great time with fun and excitement for the whole family! We’ve got a few surprises up our sleeves too, so make your plans to join us this July.

Come join the South crew this Saturday for our monthly meeting. Dale Meyers will be hosting, and there is a change in the normal meeting time. We’re going to get started at 2:30 PM and wrap up at 6:30 PM. Directions are in the forums. This meeting will feature the members of the club who are also into costuming, including members of the 501st! If you are into Star Wars costuming, bring some costumes or props to show off, and if you’re interested in getting into costuming bring your questions. We’ll also have the usual show & tell, sale tables and more.
